Tonie Rigby is a contemporary artist who paints mainly in acrylic but also inks and watercolours. Recurring themes in her work are landscapes and relationships. Tonie’s contemporary landscapes always include an element of abstraction. She builds that into the painting using layers of opaque paint with transparent glazes.

‘Painting Daily’ has been part of her practice since 2014 and working from her home studio in Saddleworth she immerses herself in the landscape and the paint!

Since completing a B.A. Hons. Fine Art, Drawing and Painting at Huddersfield University in 2002, she has continued to paint, exhibiting in solo shows at Gallery Oldham on two occasions. Tonie is also Artist in Residence at Emmaus Mossley, a community for previously homeless people, where she has run a successful Art group for many years.
