Brammeld, David RBA PS RBSA Pastelliste de France ( )
The city of Stoke-on-Trent has been a continuing source of inspiration for David. This post-industrial urban landscape has had a profound effect on his artistic development and has helped shape his unique style. He explores the character of worn-out terraced houses, shops and factories – buildings that give the Potteries its unique identity. He works variously in graphite, pastel, acrylic and oil as well as mixed media.
David also enjoys exploring the natural landscape, producing strong, individual works that capture the character of landscape and sense of place. Trees – particularly in late autumn, winter or early spring when devoid of leaves, reveal their inner strength, structure and beauty. He seeks constantly to move his work forward, exploring new ways of looking and expressing emotion.
After studying for BA (Hons) Fine Art (ceramic sculpture), at Burslem School of Art and North Staffs Polytechnic (now Staffordshire University) he then built a career in publishing/graphic design: magazine and newspaper production, all the while developing and experimenting with ideas and techniques, until only relatively recently finding success with his unique approach. He continues to enjoy the challenge and joy of creating new work.
David is an award-winning artist who exhibits nationally and internationally. His work has featured regularly in exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, London – in annual shows by The Pastel Society, Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), New English Art Club (NEAC) and Royal Society of Oil Painters (ROI). His work is also regularly exhibited in the RBSA Gallery, Birmingham.
David is an elected Member of the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), and The Pastel Society (PS), both based at the Mall Galleries, London, and also a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA).
