Liam Spencer became well-known for his paintings of Manchester. Nowadays his paintings of Hong Kong and New York have driven his recognition. His work has been exhibited at the Manchester City Art Galleries.

Liam completed an arts foundation course at Burnley College. He then went to Manchester Polytechnic to complete a fine art degree. Whilst studying, he became more aware of his surroundings and the beauty of the urban landscape. He was inspired by the city’s deserted canals and its gritty industrial scenes.

Liam Spencer is particularly attracted to modern urban landscapes. He is renowned for transforming humdrum scenes into eerily beautiful portraits of light, colour and movement. Liam finds beauty in surprising places. These could be bleak industrial wastelands or everyday urban street life.

Liam used to work mostly from observation. Over the years he has started to spend a lot of time taking photographs to act as a source of inspiration.

His paintings have been added to many private and public collections in the UK and abroad.
